Ubuntu Raises its RISC-V Profile Requirements

Joey Sneddon writes that “Canonical is bullish in promoting Ubuntu for RISC-V devices”, but warns with a new LTS “release looming” they may be “rethinking the kind of RISC-V hardware” that will be supported “going forward”. Joey makes note of a bug report that highlights many devices supported by 25.04 may not be able to use Ubuntu 25.10. We’re told Ubuntu 25.10 will ‘bump’ the baseline RISC-V profile (RVA) to RVA23 where it was RVA20 for Ubuntu 25.04.
