DebConf is the annual event that brings together the Debian community of users, contributors, and leaders. If you want to contribute to Debian, DebConf is the conference to attend!
You might already know that Debian is the upstream for Ubuntu, so it is no surprise that many Ubuntu contributors and Canonical employees actively participate in DebConf each year.
DebConf and DebCamp
This year, DebConf will be held in Brest, France. There are actually two Debian events happening next to each other. DebCamp happens just before DebConf, and is focused on getting things done in Debian. During this first week, Debian developers and contributors meet and make things happen. DebConf happens after DebCamp and it is a conference that hosts talks, workshops, discussions and social events.
Let’s look at the dates
DebCamp: Monday July 7th to Sunday July 13th 2025
DebConf: Monday July 14th to Sunday July 20th 2025
Ubuntu at DebConf
This year, Ubuntu is a gold sponsor of DebConf. Expect a strong presence from the orange side of Linux
and plenty of opportunities to get involved! You can expect the Ubuntu contributing in many ways: Submitting and hosting talks, workshops, and sessions. Connecting with attendees at the Job Fair, where Canonical hiring leads will be staffing a booth. Getting involved in the many exciting activities planned for the week.
