General Community News

Ubuntu Project docs: Going (semi)official!

Robert Krátký tells us of the new http://documentation.ubuntu.com/project URL for Ubuntu documentation. We’re also told there is “a lot of new content” along with other fixes, especially for the Ubuntu Community team’s docs. A list of Ubuntu Project docs article series is provided along with discussion on direct work being done, with us requested to notify the documentation team if any 404 errors are discovered with the new setup. A progress report is provided (including Release team, Developer Membership Board & more), as well as mentioning some work on polishing the contributors section (thanks given to Nick Rosbrook & Benjamin Drung for advising). The report finally ends with telling us how to get involved.

Call for testing: first set of 25.10 RCs ready!

Utkarsh Gupta tells us the first set of Ubuntu 25.10 release candidate (RC) images are building, and are available for downloading and testing as you read this. A link to the ISO QA tracker is provided so we can record our results, with us invited to test.

Ubuntu Server Gazette - Issue 8 - Containers: Steady paths for agile stacks

Athos Ribeiro starts the 8th issue of the Ubuntu Server Gazette with a brief discussion of different needs; most stable versus newest. This leads of an announcement of stable versions of containerd and runc packages in Ubuntu 25.10, with much of this post covering why that’s important. We’re told how we can choose either *-app to receive regular updates, or *-stable to keep a more stable environment, with numerous links should we need more, including a brief discussion on tracking updates if we need the latest details as they occur.
