Remembering and thanking Steve Langasek

Mark Shuttleworth writes subsequent to our loss of Steve Langasek, and tells us how Steve was a ‘hero’ in open source life and why. We are told his life was “short but remarkable”, and will not be forgotten. Mark’s post is followed by many others, who too mourn the loss of Steve, writing what they feel.

Ubuntu Studio: Upgrades from 22.04 LTS to 24.04 LTS are NOT WORKING

The Ubuntu Studio development team brings up investigations about reported problems from users of Ubuntu Studio 22.04 LTS release-upgrading to Ubuntu Studio 24.04 LTS. Links to bugs are provided, and discussion on why this issue has occurred and differences with other flavors of Ubuntu. Further we’re told the Ubuntu Studio team is working with the Ubuntu Foundations Team on possible solutions, which will hopefully be provided soon.

Canonical Experimented With Rebuilding Its Ubuntu 25.04 Packages Under LLVM/Clang

Michael Larabel informs us that the first rebuild results of Ubuntu 25.04 (Plucky Puffin) were shared on the mailing list. We’re told why the rebuild results are useful for package maintainers, and that LLVM Clang compiler was used to rebuild the main components. Some summary details and links for more are provided.
