General Community News

Ubuntu Forums migrating

Irihapeti relates to us the Forums move to Discourse: ā€œUbuntu Forums is making a move to Ubuntu Community Hub. The old software needs to be pensioned off, and therefore the support function is migrating to Discourse. These dates are subject to change, depending on unforeseen happenings, but the tentative opening date is 12 December, with the old forums finally going read-only on 9 January. This gives users time to finish their existing help threads on the old forums. More info and discussion is at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/c/ubuntuforums-transition/305ā€.

Hello,

I was trying to update the LXD section of the news, but it appears that I can no longer edit the post. Have there been any recent changes that might have affected editing permissions?

Thank you!

No, at least none that Iā€™m aware of.

There is a errant ā€œ>ā€ i see; I canā€™t see how it would impact anything, but Iā€™ll remove it and Iā€™ll then suggest you try again. Sorry Iā€™m guessing here

ā€“

Done, I donā€™t currently see any problems, or reasons why you canā€™t @dinmusic; please try again

Hello,

Thanks for quick reply. The issue is that I no longer have the edit button on posts within the Ubuntu Weekly News - news. For example, I can still see it on my replies and posts within the LXD channel. Iā€™ve also checked older news posts where I previously made edits, but I can no longer edit those either.

Weā€™ll need to look into this, for now Iā€™ll provide a copy of the current newsletter in text format (Ubuntu Pastebin) in case itā€™s helpful, and you can either reply to me here with changes/additions (I or @bashing-om can add them until we get this fixed), or just PM me/Billy and weā€™ll add from there.

THANK YOU for checking older posts. Yep, it sure sounds like a security change; Iā€™m aware of changes occurring elsewhere on this discourse; but sorry Iā€™m not familiar with any here in Ubuntu Weekly News.

( Itā€™s getting somewhat late my local time (and Iā€™ve got other stuff yet to do), so Iā€™ll probably chase this up tomorrow; thus why Iā€™m suggesting a workaround until its fixed )

@bashing-om youā€™re not aware of any changes that could cause this?? If youā€™re not aware of any; we may need to speak to @ian-weisser for help (this ping is early Ian sorry; so feel free to ignore this for now, but I [tonight] canā€™t see any problems/reason for the problem, and will look again tomorrowā€¦ Once Iā€™ve spoken with Billy/@bashing-om I maybe seeking your helpā€¦)

All right - now - me thinks ā€“

Opps on my part in that in my haste I did fail to set the WIKI flag.

Sorry for this inconvenience,

But that also means I missed it too !! and looking for it was one of the first things I did (though when I responded last night I was distracted by non-Ubuntu things too)

guiverc - Well !

Life just has a way to get in the way
