• Sponsored packaging for some of the early GNOME 47.0 pieces. GNOME 47 is scheduled for release on Wednesday! The Ubuntu 24.10 Beta is scheduled for release on Thursday!
   
• Updated several packaged GNOME Shell extensions in Debian to smooth the GNOME Shell 47 transition that we’ll do there soon
• We also would have been ready to update GTK4 and libadwaita in Debian except that the upload of Weston 14 to Unstable broke GTK4’s build tests. I expect that issue will get resolved soon.
• Alessandro, Simon, and I worked together to package gnome-settings-daemon 47 RC, needed by GNOME Shell 47 RC. However, the tests are now significantly less reliable in our infrastructure than they were before.
   
• Filed removal bugs for things that don’t build in Ubuntu with ffmpeg 7
• Filed RC bugs in Debian for things still using freerdp2
• Had the abandoned app Vinagre removed from Debian Unstable and Ubuntu 24.10. Alternative RDP apps include Remmina and GNOME Connections.
   
• Seb cherry-picked a pipewire fix to Ubuntu 24.10 to fix the Snapshot webcam app not working for many people. We will get this fixed in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS soon too.
• Added a fuse transitional package to resolve an issue where people would break their desktop by installing that package. We’ll also SRU this to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and maybe 22.04 LTS too.
   
• Unicode 16 was released this week. However, much of the packaging work won’t happen until later. Some parts need the corresponding CLDR to be updated which I figure is weeks away.
• Helped Matthias Klose with getting Rust packages to migrate out of oracular-proposed
• Miscellaneous package updates

• Answering bug reports for days. The current spike seems to be from people who were upgraded from 22.04 to 24.04.1. As usual, lots of bug triage and user support in Launchpad and upstreams. And the backlog stats are here.
• Pushed a patch to Debian to prevent the top gnome-shell crasher. And uploaded an SRU to Noble for it.
• Got to the bottom of why gnome-shell’s memory usage seems higher than expected.
• Guided Sergio toward releasing some SRUs for DING.
• Helped Devices Engineering again with Xilinx/Mali enablement on Noble. Proposed a patch to fix Mutter crashes on startup, and a similar patch for 46. Although still in draft because the platform has other issues preventing those fixes from being verified.
• Bisected Firefox failing to direct scanout since Mutter 43.1(!). This might also explain poor performance in some full screen games.
• Completed verification of some SRUs in noble-proposed coming soon to 24.04: LP#2025006, LP#2076318, LP#2037055 (the #1 gnome-shell crasher)
• Corporate housekeeping.
