We’re into release week for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. The first (of likely many) release candidate ISOs have been built. These will almost certainly not be the last ISOs spun this week, so do not consider them final or production ready.
Please join the effort to help test all the flavours to help us get closer to a final image for the release on Thursday 23rd April 2020.
Installing nvidia-driver-440 from “software-properties-gtk” also installs “linux-image-5.4.0-25-lowlatency”. I installed RC ISO, using minimal install option, opened up driver manager and installed nvidia-driver-440 from there. That’s the apt’s history.log: https://pastebin.com/y0VLqVru
Probably many people are already using lowlatency kernel right now, but no one noticed simply because it doesn’t flash any error.
That’s good to know! Let me know if you need any more info or tests.
@popey, i would if i knew what package is affected. I did report some other bugs, but this one i thought about it and i couldn’t figure out what the bug is. So i thought it would be faster to just post it here and hope some of you to see.
@kazanjian install unity de with sudo apt install ubuntu-unity-desktop. I have tried it on 20.04 gnome and xubuntu 20.04. it is faster and smoother on xubuntu 20.04. I did have to install unity7ppa to get the hud and unity tweak tool to work. That was a month ago and there have been unity7 updates since then so not sure if ppa is still needed for full functionality
It’s working properly now! I received the message from launchpad about the fix, so i went to test it, and it worked.
Will it be shipped with 20.04 final iso?
Thanks!
