20.04 Release Candidate ISOs ready for testing

kermit

We’re into release week for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. The first (of likely many) release candidate ISOs have been built. These will almost certainly not be the last ISOs spun this week, so do not consider them final or production ready.

Please join the effort to help test all the flavours to help us get closer to a final image for the release on Thursday 23rd April 2020.

No Xubuntu and Unity flavors?

It failed to build, but a fix has been uploaded, should be able to retry soon.

This flavour doesn’t build ISOs, you need to install Ubuntu in another way and then install it from there.

You need to download from somewhere else like a google mirror (e.g. ubuntu cinnamon and ubuntu dde have sourceforge and google drive)

The whole Ubuntu MATE 20.04 LTS RC system is great, but Scilab 6.1 is broken - see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/scilab/+bug/1870813 and please fix it as soon as possible.

Would love to test them but as there are no torrents, the ISO download speed is horrendous.

This is still happening!

Installing nvidia-driver-440 from “software-properties-gtk” also installs “linux-image-5.4.0-25-lowlatency”. I installed RC ISO, using minimal install option, opened up driver manager and installed nvidia-driver-440 from there. That’s the apt’s history.log: https://pastebin.com/y0VLqVru

Probably many people are already using lowlatency kernel right now, but no one noticed simply because it doesn’t flash any error.

Have you reported a bug? ubuntu-bug (packagename) will report to the right place.

@brunonzanette this is bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1873867 and a fix is in progress.

That’s good to know! Let me know if you need any more info or tests.

@popey, i would if i knew what package is affected. I did report some other bugs, but this one i thought about it and i couldn’t figure out what the bug is. So i thought it would be faster to just post it here and hope some of you to see.

@kazanjian install unity de with sudo apt install ubuntu-unity-desktop. I have tried it on 20.04 gnome and xubuntu 20.04. it is faster and smoother on xubuntu 20.04. I did have to install unity7ppa to get the hud and unity tweak tool to work. That was a month ago and there have been unity7 updates since then so not sure if ppa is still needed for full functionality

I think pulse audio networking is completely broken in 20.04.

I wanted to share audio from the laptop (20.04) to my desktop (18.04) and only the Destkop works with PulseAudio Preferences (paprefs).

It’s working properly now! I received the message from launchpad about the fix, so i went to test it, and it worked.
Will it be shipped with 20.04 final iso?
Thanks!

There is a new image with the fix available at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20200421/

Hi Norbert, did you link that bug on the ISO tracker? http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/412/builds

Discourse is not a bug tracker.
