Ubuntu 22.04 with Mate added on, Power Menu set to turn off display after a time, turns it off but it comes right back on

Mate desktop

I have a nearly new System76 Meerkat 10 that came with Pop_OS. I have installed MATE on top of it and am a happy camper (almost).

I have had no luck at all configuring the Power Manager to power off the displays (there are two) after a fixed period of time. To be more precise, it DOES turn them off, but in around 5 seconds they come back on again.

I’ve tried every combination of screensaver/Power Manger I can think of, currently screensaver is disabled, but it makes no difference.

By default the box comes up in Gnome if I don’t choose MATE, so I have also disabled the function in Gnome that powers down the screen, leaving just the MATE function enabled.

I am stumped, have tried everything I can think of, would appreciate any help any of you can give me.

Thanks in advance!

Fred

You’re off-topic here, as this is a Ubuntu site, and not a System76/Pop_OS site.

If you refer the Support and Help Start Here page you’ll read

where Pop OS! is NOT a Ubuntu OS; it’s only Ubuntu based.

I suggest you re-read the Start Here page, and please open the "Before asking a question area.

I’ve thus CLOSED this question, as it appears to be about a Pop OS! system, and not a supported Ubuntu product.
