Peppermint and Lubuntu networking to Windows and each other

Ubuntu Version:

Lubuntu 25.04 and Peppermint bookworm (2 separate PCs)

Desktop Environment (if applicable):

xfce

Problem Description:

The Lubuntu PC shows shared files coming from a Windows 10 PC, but the Peppermint PC shows only a folder and: “Failed to retrieve share list from server: No such file or directory”.
But also I have been unable to work out how to share between the Debian PCs.

Maybe this is not the forum for Peppermint issues, I now use it on this (older) PC instead of Lubuntu because it failed to start up properly after the latest update to 25.04.

As you noticed yourself this is indeed not a support forum for PeppermintOS, they do have their own support venue though that you can reach at:

You are very aware of this (Peppermint isn’t even based on Ubuntu), stating
