Join the Ubuntu crew at GUADEC 2023

Mauro Gaspari reminds us that GUADEC “is the GNOME community’s yearly event”, what happens there and that it’s in Riga, Latvia from 26-31 July 2023. We are given some history, including that Canonical is a supporter of the GNOME Project and GUADEC (a gold sponsor this year). We’re given details of some Ubuntu team members who will be speaking (with links for more details) and told of the Ubuntu booth (with link to the discourse thread seeking volunteers).

Ubuntu Kylin is a beautiful Linux operating system optimized for Chinese users

Jack Wallen in writing about Ubuntu Kylin provides us a list of apps that are included by default. We’re told it includes a unique app store geared for Chinese users; thus Jack resorted to installing some wanted apps from the terminal. Jack notes that whilst Ubuntu Kylin is optimized for Chinese users, it was easy to switch to English at install (telling us how), though he notes some ‘bits’ still remained in Chinese. Finally a discussion is given on why you’d want to use Ubuntu Kylin.
