Ubuntu fails to load on Virtual box. It last worked yesterday. Version 24.0.3 on Virtualbox 6.0.24. I get a hard stop about the old binary mount data not supported. I had just been in it but reset the session when I couldn’t login. I had a strange issue where I couldn’t type in the password on the lock screen. It would go straight to authentication rejected. Now it won’t boot at all.
Did you try the suggestions mentioned in the error or did you do an online search for how to update your VBox Service? Not very familiar with VirtualBox myself.
Hi. I’m not good with Linux so I have no idea how to do that especially since I can’t boot up ubuntu. What I do know is that the newest version of virtual tools doesn’t work with newer versions on ubuntu.
I didn’t know that I could hit enter and open up a terminal. After that I uninstalled virtualbox additions. Then I reinstalled unity and it now boots normally.
My first thought when reading this is that you really should upgrade your version of Virtualbox as 6.0.24 is no longer supported, support ended in July 2020, over 5 years ago.
I would recommend that you download the most recent up-to-date version, 7.2.2 which you can get from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads and also get the Extension Pack from the same URL.
