For a few days I have been getting 503 and 504 errors when connecting to the site.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Seems to happen mostly in the afternoon/evening about 4-6 pm UK time but sometimes also in the early morning.

Yes, it started happening when the forum moved over, I guess the existing setup is simply not handling the new load … but knowing IS usually monitors site performance closely I’d expect this to be fixed eventually
Yes, several times, looks like something is being restarted each time it happens.
… here in the UK it loads very slowly or fails to load. I have average to fast broadband here not sure why it does this, just thought would flag it up
see Ubuntu Discourse Connectivity Issues
(was just opened minutes before you posted this )
Thanx yes it seems to be sketchy in the UK at the moment and since it is a recent site maybe it will speed up
Here’s an image to put the site growth into perspective.
Yes, there’s been quite a jump in visitors. So I’m not surprised there’s a few teething issues. When we set the site up, I don’t think we ever anticipated this volume!
@popey thank you for the excellent visual.
I kind of suspected it might have something to do with a higher volume of users and posts.
Of course, this is good news.
Will be patient and hope it is resolved in the near future.
Indeed same. I don’t check in often as nearly every time I try to connect I get a timeout or otherwise. My timing is amazingly spot on for unplanned downtime. Been spending more time @ LinuxQuestions.org.
It seems to me that it happened even before
Yeah, but only once a week vs. 5 times per day
Only five!?
Do you know if IS are aware, and have a ticket, or a responsible “Web monkey” assigned to this?
@ogra Couldn’t agree more
When I came over to Discourse from UF at the end of November last year it would happen perhaps now and again but not often.
The frequency has definitely increased over the past 3-4 weeks.
thanx for clarifications makes sense now and we kinda surmised this might be the reason
testing further yes it comes and goes but now we know
Not sure if someone took a look at this but it is much better now.
I have not had any connectivity errors the past two days.
