Samba and Windows shares can be easily accessed from the default file managers of both Gnome and KDE. We’ll begin with accessing shares from Nautilus in Gnome. Open Nautilus and go to File → Connect to Server. Choose “Windows share ” from the listbox and enter the server name or IP address of your Samba server.

The “Securing File and Print Server” link is broken - it should be linking to https://ubuntu.com/server/docs/samba-securing.

I’m having trouble finding any information on the lwopen backend for ID mapping. Why is this recommended instead of ‘ad’, ‘rid’ or ‘autorid’?

This article is badly outdated, sorry about that. I’m going over it all.

Specifically about your question, lwopen doesn’t exist anymore. The current doc about joining an AD domain is https://ubuntu.com/server/docs/service-sssd, and I will probably rename that too (people come looking for “how to join AD”, and don’t necessarily know what “sssd” is)

I rewrote this section and it should be ok now.
