Ubuntu 25.04 “Plucky Puffin” is planned to eventually ship with kernel version 6.14.
Deadlines from the Plucky Puffin Release Schedule :
2025-03-20T00:00:00Z : Kernel Feature Freeze
2025-03-24T00:00:00Z : Beta Freeze / HWE Freeze
2025-04-03T00:00:00Z : Kernel Freeze
2025-04-10T00:00:00Z : Final Freeze
2025-04-17T00:00:00Z : Final Release
According to the kernel crystal ball right now it suggests that v6.14 is released on March 30th, but that would assume both 6.13 and 6.14 to require an rc8, which has not been the case for several kernel versions now. So it is rather likely that we are able to use the final v6.14 release for Plucky, which is nice.

I hope it includes NTSYNC.
Because NTSYNC has a wonderful performance for lots of games running on Wine compared to running it on Windows.

If it does, you will see a video about it at https://www.youtube.com/@xtremelinux

Do note, patience are required.
But I hope it happens, and it would be great for you to test that later this year.
April 17th 2025, that is.

If you want to live on the edge, you can try the unstable 6.14 kernel (linux-unstable
) from the unstable PPA .

“CONFIG_NTSYNC policy<{‘amd64’: ‘m’, ‘arm64’: ‘m’, ‘armhf’: ‘m’, ‘ppc64el’: ‘m’, ‘riscv64’: ‘m’, ‘s390x’: ‘m’}>”
so yes, it’s enabled

I use 6.14 linux-wip since some days and I do not experience any bug.
Still have to hack grub command line to get VirtualBox VM working.
