This desktop team was in Prague at an Engineering sprint this week and is preparing for the Ubuntu Summit the following week!

• Fixes in GTK3 for apport failing to work after shell crash.
• Wrote slides for my Flutter on Linux Ubuntu Summit talk.
• Responded to LightDM PRs.

• added support for device requests #30

firmware-updater

• added a cli handler that allows navigating to a specific device #117
• included the notifier in the snap and made it launch the firmware updater if an update is available #119
• added device request dialogs #122

yaru_widgets.dart

• added a simple controller to the MD page #358

Prague

• had a great time meeting a lot of friendly people so far
• looking forward to the summit!

• Lots of bug triage in Launchpad and upstreams (caught up from a week away). Backlog stats are here.
• Commenced redesigning/rewriting unified buffer managment to try and get it closer to upstream’s planned future design.
• Commercial project planning and discussions outside of Desktop.
• The fix for blurry window previews landed upstream.
• A week of team building.

• the firefox 106.0.2 update was published to bionic and focal
• firefox 106.0.5 update is in the stable channel, and being prepared as debs
• Mozilla agreed to cherry-picking the native messaging patch in the stable snap, this is now live!

thunderbird

• preparing the 102.4.2 update for all supported releases

Ubuntu Store

• fixed local package installation by looking at the local path first
• cancel a background updates check when opening the details page for a package (work in progress)
• Weblate libre hosting for translations was approved, added widgets to the README and CONTRIBUTING documents

other

• prepared my two talks for the upcoming Ubuntu Summit
  • Native messaging for strictly confined browsers (25 minutes talk)
  • Snapping desktop applications (workshop co-hosted with KDE’s Scarlett Moore)

Chromium

• Edge: Fixed failure to build from source.
• Edge, beta: Fixed critical bug that prevented Chromium from launching.
• All channels had new upstream releases.
• Addressed Apparmor denials by disabling Chromium’s motherboard metrics collection.
• Enable translation bubble (the thing that the asks user if he wants to translate a page if it is in a foreign language).
• Bionic: Fixed failures to build from source and performed the manual tests. Now it needs to be reviewed and released by the security team.
