  • Uploaded ptyxis to Debian NEW. Thanks Alex Myczko for doing most of the initial packaging and requesting this for months. I was also fortunate enough to get a quick demo of the app from the developer at GUADEC last week. I think this potentially could be used as the default terminal app for Ubuntu Desktop and Debian GNOME, but there isn’t time to do the necessary integration work in time for Ubuntu 24.10.
  • It seems likely that Papers won’t be in GNOME Core for GNOME 47; therefore, I’ve paused work on packaging it as I’m quite busy with other work for the next few weeks
  • I completed the GNOME Shell 46 transition for Debian Testing. Unfortunately, this meant that the Budgie desktop had to be removed from Testing as we wait for ftpmasters to finish their NEW review of the magpie library.

  • Uploaded Nautilus 46 to Debian Testing
  • Simon McVittie has uploaded a new build of gtk4 to Debian Experimental. After we verify that it builds on all Debian release archtitectures, we can upload gtk 4.14 to Debian Unstable. This is important because it allows us to then package gtk 4.16 Beta (versioned something like 4.15.4) in Experimental which is a prerequisite for libadwaita 1.6 which is needed by many GNOME 47 apps. GNOME 47 Beta is expected next week.
  • Collaborated with Simon to package the new development build of glib for Debian Experimental and Ubuntu 24.10

  • Almost completed the jpeg-xl 0.10 transition in Ubuntu 24.10 but gcc was switched to gcc-14 as I was preparing the transition. Gianfranco fixed most of the blocking build failures triggered by the gcc default switch.
  • Represented Debian at the GNOME Advisory Board meeting at GUADEC. This was my first time at this meeting. I think Debian hasn’t sent a representative in years.
