  • Updated the GNOME Settings app to 46 Alpha in Debian and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Check the NEWS for the full list of changes; biggest change is probably the consolidation of several panels into a new System panel.
  • Also updated GNOME Online Accounts which moves the login process into the default web browser instead of in a popup dialog window. This enables login to work in more cases and be more resilient to changes in login policies by Google or Microsoft.
  • Submitted a merge request to fix a small issue I noticed when testing the new Settings app

  • Packaged GNOME System Monitor 46 Alpha. This is now our second GTK4 C++ default app (after Transmission).
  • Packaged Swell Foop 46 Alpha which has been ported from GTK3 + Clutter to GTK4
  • Other miscellaneous packaging of GNOME 45.3 and a few GNOME 46 Alpha things. Most of GNOME 46 won’t be packaged until 46 Beta.

  • GNOME Shell 45.2 arrived in Ubuntu 23.10.
  • Ubuntu 22.04 LTS got a new version of osinfo-db which makes it easy to create a Ubuntu 23.10 VM in the GNOME Boxes app.

  • Started work on packaging gtk4 4.13.5
  • Ended up skipping the tracker build test for Nautilus after trying to collect as much debug info as possible and contacting tracker and nautilus upstream. Ultimately this failure only occured on Debian’s buildds which made it difficult to debug and fix more permanently. Anyway, this means Debian Unstable now has Nautilus 45.
  • Fixed a theme issue for gedit for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
  • Attended this week’s Ubuntu Flavor Sync
