(@Wild_Man) Asks for an update on finding an alternative for mailing lists?
- (@ian-weisser) No update, still needs to talk with rbasak to see if discourse is a feasible alternative to mailing lists.
- Using google groups is not a good alternative to replace mailing lists.
- Launchpad not a good option.
- Paying for mailman might be a good approach but must include mail security, anti-spam, etc.
- (@teward ) might be able to provide mailinglists, if he does, this will include comprehensive anti-spam controls already in place with the email systems run by (@teward ).

Update on merging Ubuntu Forum Members with standard Ubuntu Membership

(@merlijn-sebrechts) offered to add Ubuntu Forum Members manually to the Ubuntu Membership launchpad group and remove from Forum Membership, then deactivate the Forum Membership launchpad group.

(@Wild_Man) believed he will finish merging the Ubuntu Forum Members to the Ubuntu Membership launchpad group by next Monday.

IRC Council is merging with the Communications Council, so we need to transfer IRC granted Membership to the Ubuntu Membership launchpad group.
- @merlijn-sebrechts) renamed the launchpad group from IRC Council to IRC Operators group.

- (@Wild_Man) is getting emails on what is trending and those posts need approval by a moderator to go through our server so the question is do we only approve Ubuntu related posts?
- Do we have a clear set of rules about which posts get approved and which ones get rejected? It looks like we can accept trending messages from specific accounts…
- It looks like mastodon might have misconfigured SMTP or sendmail settings, it looks like people are not getting emails when there account is not accepted on Mastodon. (@irihapeti) and @merlijn-sebrechts) mentioned that they did receive emails when there accounts were approved but not on there accounts that were used for testing and those accounts were rejected.
- So it is possible that email notifications are enabled only for very specific actions.
- Need POC for matrix maintenance.
