Call for testing: ubuntu-frame, mir-test-tools, mir-kiosk, egmde (Mir 2.13.0 update)

The following snaps have been updated to the latest Mir release (2.13.0):

snap version notes
mir-kiosk 2.13.0-snap134
egmde 156-mir2.13.0-snap202
mir-test-tools 2.13.0-snap123 20, latest and 22 tracks
ubuntu-frame 99-mir2.13.0 20 and latest tracks
ubuntu-frame 100-mir2.13.0 22 track
20 and 22 tracks:

We are in the process of introducing suppport for both base: core20 and base: core22 snaps and the 20 and 22 tracks for ubuntu-frame and mir-test-tools corresponding to these. Support for these will correspond to support for Ubuntu 20.04LTS and Ubuntu 22.04LTS respectively.

There is still some setup to be done for using the 22 tracks and we will be making an announcement when that is ready. In the meantime we currently recommend using the 20 track for consistency with existing base: core20 apps.

Ubuntu Frame:

This release of Ubuntu Frame introduces a number of improvements to the configuration of multiple display outputs and managing multiple applications. For details see:

To test, just switch to the candidate channel. For example:

 snap refresh --channel 20/candidate ubuntu-frame

And use as normal. Please let us know any results here.

If no problems are identified we aim to promote to stable in a week.

A post was split to a new topic: Ubuntu Frame 22 track not starting

I’ve split a 22 track topic out, but it did confirm the 20 track working fine:

I have updated the ubuntu-frame in latest/candidate and 20/candidate to 99-mir2.13.0 because an issue was identified on these tracks spotted:

https://github.com/MirServer/ubuntu-frame/issues/134

As necessary fix was already tested on the 22 track, and the issue is present on stable I am not restarting the countdown before promoting to stable. That will still happen tomorrow.

The following snaps updates have now been promoted to stable:

snap version notes
mir-kiosk 2.13.0-snap134
egmde 156-mir2.13.0-snap202
mir-test-tools 2.13.0-snap123 20, latest and 22 tracks
ubuntu-frame 99-mir2.13.0 20 and latest tracks

Note that we’ve held back the 22 track for Frame briefly. This is because we’re still waiting on a store request needed for normal operation and we also wish to package an improved help message that result from the store request not being granted yet.
