Call for Nomination: Local Communities Research Committee

Hello everybody,

The Community Council has concluded that we need a new evaluation of the Ubuntu Local Communities project (https://loco.ubuntu.com) itself and this should be done by a Local Communities Research Committee.

You can read the thoughts behind this call and what we are looking for on the Community Hub:

If you think you can and want to make a contribution to Ubuntu here, please send your nomination to community-council at lists.ubuntu.com.

Nominations are now open and will close on Saturday, February 6, 2021 23:59 UTC. After that, the Community Council will review the submissions and appoint the Local Communities Research Committee.

On behalf of the Community Council,
Torsten

I can’t find a list with community-council on the name at lists.ubuntu.com, can you link directly to the list management page?

For that matter, there are several other lists missing, such as the Lubuntu, Kubuntu, IRC, Local Communities and Forum Councils, not to mention the Technical Board and the Developer Membership Board. The Membership Board appears to be the one example of the governance structure that is there. Maybe this is intentional?

I can say, given that there are other mailing lists servers serving up pages in a similar format, I’m confident this page is really only stylized by Ubuntu rather than being customized. I would expect it to list all lists but I guess that’s not the case. Maybe there’s a Mailman setting I’m not familiar with?

Hello, I want to be part of the Team, however the information on which email or list address should be sent the application is not clear.

I would appreciate clarification and with this we can apply several people.

Thank you.

I think I now understand what @diogoconstantino’s reply was based on. I took it in a different way. The issue here is not that the information is not there, but that it’s displayed in a somewhat confusing way by Discourse. To quote the original message:

That’s a lot like saying my email is wxl at ubuntu.com. I hope that clarifies things.

It was my fault, I didn’t read it as being an email address, it was silly of me.

A few applications have already been received. Thank you very much for that. We decided in our last meeting of the Ubuntu Community Council that the deadline for applications would be extended by two weeks so that more applications can be received for this important topic.

Nominations are still open and will close on Saturday, February 6, 2021 23:59 UTC. After that, the Community Council will review the submissions and appoint the Local Communities Research Committee.

The call for nomination will close on Saturday, February 6 23:59 UTC.

At the moment we have no nominations from people of the region Africa and Oceania. We would very much appreciate nominations from these regions so that we have nominations for the Local Communities Research Committee from all parts of the world.

There are some very good nominations among them. Thank you for the nominations.

Unfortunately, it will take a few more days until we have the results. I ask for a little patience, especially for the candidates who surely already have good ideas.
