Hi,
I am a retired tech writer, illustrator and methods analyst. Started when Numerical controls were graduating from punch tape to magnetic. Writing, editing and testing procedures I hope is where I can best help you as well as users. Been using Ubuntu since 16.04 LTS and have soooo much more to learn. I like helping people and have often needed help as well.
Hi folks! My name is Walt, a.k.a. guyinthewoods. I’m new to Ubuntu; with a deep interest in Edubuntu 23.0.4. My goal is to customize the installer to install SERVER along with Edubuntu’s marvelous desktop version. As a ubuntu user; and particularly an educator, I see a great potential for new thinking concerning modern end-user computing in education, for both public and private institutions as well as mobile educators.
I’d love the opportunity to discuss a pro version of Edubuntu with the applicible team(s).
Hi @guyinthewoods, welcome to the community. To name a few people who might be interested, @amypenguin @eeickmeyer can help you on the Edubuntu side. Looking forward to seeing what you’ll contribute to Edubuntu!
Hi everyone,
I’m Asmit Malakannawar, and I’m new here. I’m excited about helping with design stuff! I got into Ubuntu because of the GNOME Foundation. I’ve been working on design things there and keeping up with Ubuntu’s design blogs. I’m really impressed with the cool things the design team has made.
I’m ready to take on design tasks and contribute to them. Can’t wait to get started!
Hello! My name is Raluca and I apply at Canonical for Social Media Marketing Specialist. This is my first access to Ubuntu Discourse. Is nice to meet you all!
What are the projects most critical needs at this point in time?
Hi folks!
I am Srishti from India, currently working as an Executive Assistant, making a CEO’s life easy at an Investment Consulting firm.
While I am super new to Ubuntu, the open-source and community-led approach really sparked with me. About me, I am a board game enthusiast, avid reader, cat mom of 2, and obsessed with creating structures, lists and processes. Over the years, I have worked with multiple organisations, polishing my skills as an analyst, manager, and process coordinator, delivering quality results while ensuring smooth communication. Also, always over-enthusiastic to meet over a cup of matcha for sunset.
I am excited to apply for the Executive Assistant role for the APAC region!
Aloha,
I just learned about this community by applying for the Technical Partner Manager at Canonical. I hope to be well versed in supporting Ubuntu Server Certification. I am excited to learn as much as I can.

Hi everyone!
I recently applied for a Jr. HR Generalist position with Canonical and am hoing to be a part of the community. While I am more of an operations/admin type person, I do tend to nerd out on technical capabilities . My partner is a software engineer and I am constantly fascinated by the workings of what can be produced with technology. My competencies and what I am good at align more with internal ops and I’m hoping to learn as much as I can about Canonical
.
What would you say is the best part of the culture at Canonical?
Hello everyone, it is Mehmet from Türkiye. I have just came in. Very very new and trying to understand the ubuntu environment. I am working as a lawyer/legal expert in Ankara. waiting for new connections
Hello, World! My name is Akira I’m a master’s student from the university of Helsinki, Finland. I’m here to contribute to the packages of Ubunchu!
Hello! This is my first time in this community. I see that there are several of us who are in the same situation. I came to this site attentive to the automatic email that Canonical sent me after applying for the position of Senior Legal Advisor - Governance and Compliance.
While in law school, I worked at a software development company and Ubuntu was the norm there. Soon I understood why…
After applying for this attorney position, I’ve read Canonical’s Data Privacy Statement (by far the best I’ve read in terms of accuracy and readability), then stumbled upon this community; everything that has made me remember my old times as a user of this OS, so I decided to install it on one of my laptops and use it again.
Wish me luck and the best of luck to all of you!
Hey folks!
I wanted to take a moment to share a bit of my journey through the world of Ubuntu and open source. My open source voyage began when I stumbled upon Ubuntu while exploring the tech world as a curious, wide-eyed kid. I vividly remember the excitement of installing Ubuntu on my laptop using the Wubi installer. It was my first meet with the friendly penguin🐧
Fast forward to today, and I’m thrilled to be on the cusp of potentially joining the Canonical team as a web developer!
I’m passionate about all things web, and the prospect of contributing to projects that make open source accessible to everyone is truly exciting.
Looking forward to being a part of this vibrant community and, hopefully, working together to shape the future of Ubuntu and open source. Let’s connect and chat!
Let’s also connect on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/chinmaykunkikar
Cheers!
Hi all!
I’m new to this forum, although I have used Ubuntu before. I’m applying for the Kernel Engineering role at Canonical, and I’d love to get started with the Ubuntu’s kernel even if I don’t get the job. This is such an interesting topic to me that perhaps in the future I’ll get hired.
Any help or suggestion is very welcome.
Cheers!
Hello, Amazing Community!
I’m Estefania, hailing from the vibrant country of Colombia. I’ve eagerly joined this community to embark on an exciting journey of discovery about this company.
You see, I’m not just any candidate; I’m the one vying for the coveted role of Accounts Receivable Clerk, an opportunity that marks the beginning of an exciting journey!"
Wishing you the best!
Hello everyone!
My name is Scott Rowe and I am engaging with the Ubuntu community for the first time. However, this is not my first experience with open source, community-based software development. Anyone remember WebPlatform.org? I was part of that before being subsumed by the Borg (literally - I worked for Google ).
Presently, I am a candidate for a technical author’s role at Canonical in the written interview stage. So we could consider this post part of the process !
So far, I’ve got some questions about the on-boarding process here and how to contribute to the wiki, which I’ll address on #ubuntu-doc, assuming that’s the right approach (?) Please watch for me there, if you’re interested.
Great to be here! As the comedians say, I’ll be here all week .
Greetings from Colombia as well
Wish the best to you too in this amazing journey Estefania!

I had not ever encountered any of Ubuntu’s products until recently and since learning about them and what they offer I have seem how great their products are and how they help the people that use them and they also are devoted to helping people in many ways not just their products and I want to be a partner and member of an organization that I can feel good about having a relationship with. I am looking forward to the sense of community that I will inevitably be surrounded with while I contribute.
