Which version to get

I am using ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS

Totally Weird and Funny

I should also say that I thought I have already sent this but, apparently, I am wrong as I checked in my messages and its not there so I think I might be wrong.

i am also not completely understanding this new discourse thing which is somewhat confusing - hope you understand. Things are no longer simple and easy.

Thoughts?

Yes, and what exactly is your question?

Why don’t you use 24.04 LTS?

I do not use 24 because I converted, and tried to use it when it was first announced. Too much trouble. I would just like to know if its ok now… Then there is the thing about 24.04 and 24.10 which seems strange too. Normally, when one downloads one of these that’s it. Now, however, there is 24.04 - good for years, and then there is 24.10 which gets upgraded. In the past when you got one, even when it was good for years it got updated (22.04 used to get upgraded for instance). So, now there is one that, apparently, never gets upgraded and one that will get upgradated.

So, my question is now actually, different. If I am going to upgrade should I get the 24.04, 24.10 (it really makes no sense to me and I have been using it for over 15 years) Oh, just to round it out. My updator tells me to upgrade with 24.1 which makes it all even less clear.

Apparently I started one of these messages but screwed up and sent it with nothing. The new stuff at this site takes a bit of use to understand what is going on!

Apologies…

If you’re on LTS (like 22.04), I’d stick with it. I’d also suggest that if you’re looking for the most stable solution. That suggests 24.04.

If you want the latest software, though, I’d go with 24.10.

Stick to LTS versions for stability. (25.04 will not be LTS, as they are every two years).

I am satisfied with the stability of 22.04 and have enabled Ubuntu Pro for added security up to 2032.

This will suffice for my needs.
I generally test versions in KVM virtualbox in order to make a comparison.

thank you for the reply. I think you are probably right. I will stick where I am, ie. 22.04.5
