I am running Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS on my desktop. Jamy Jellyfish

Voice typing in google docs on my ubuntu computer is not working. I know my microphone is working because I use it on zoom calls. I know I am using the app correctly because when I do exactly the same thing on my chrome book voice typing works fine. How do I track down this problem?

Does voice typing work on any other website or with any other application?

It works with Gemini, and with other AI systems that allow voice dictation.

Assuming that all of that is done via your browser, I think you can safely conclude that your operating system, browser, and hardware are all working correctly.

Did you check to see if you’ve given the Google Docs website permission to access the microphone (this would be settings within the browser; if you let us know which browser you have we can provide more specific information).

Perhaps try Wolfram Alpha with GoogleSpeech to see if that avenue works. Just another card to play to track down root cause as you request.
