Using nvidia video card with 3 monitors

Hello,

I have an interesting problem with a standard ubuntu 24.4 /gnome desktop installation.
The computer has a GeForce gaming video card:
PNY GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5
VCGGTX10606PB
and three (3) gaming monitors:
ASUS VP278QG 27" Full HD 1920x1080 75Hz 1ms 2xHDMI VGA DisplayPort Adaptive-Sync/FreeSync Built-in Speakers SPLENDID Video Modes Flicker-Free Backlit LED.

I don’t use it for gaming any more, but I like having the three monitors.

The installer had no trouble finding a driver that appears to work well:
Using nVidia Corporation GP106 GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 metapackage from nvidia-driver 550. (proprietary, tested)

After the linux install, I discovered that I can no longer set a panoramic desktop background that spans all three monitors. I seem to remember that there were settings in the nVidia Control Panel that enabled me to do this. There doesn’t appear to be a linux equivalent of this control panel. Is there some other way to make this happen?

what shows here:

gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.background picture-options

“what shows here[?]”

‘zoom’

Give this a try, and it should be almost instant:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-options spanned
