I am running with ubuntu 24.04
I use discs. I have problems. I need to know if there is someplace that can tell me what to do with discs. My problem is really pretty simple. I put a stick that holds data. Some are gb’s and some are more. In both all I want to do is to clean them up and re-use them. I put them in and format them. From that point don’t have a clue. When I do that I tell discs that I want it to be for linux. My problem is that I really have no idea what to do next and I screw it all up. I try to send something to see if it will be accepted and that sometimes works, sometimes not. Sometimes I will goto gparted as well. Basically what I seem to be really good at is screwing everything up but I think there are rules and regulations and i would like to study on it.
Thank you…
If you want to format/reformat USB sticks for reuse, this link provides an easy to follow guide on how to do that using either GNOME Disks or GParted:

I do not recommend using the command line method unless you are very comfortable with that approach.

THANK YOU FOR THE REPLY!! I’LL GIVE IT A TRY!
I went to discs and, this time, I told it to erase. It came back and told me it would take 27 days and some hours. I have it running right now. Its running at running a 800 to 900gb/sec When it started ot was 27 days and 19 hours. Its been running for a lot less than that and now its 27 days and 1 hour. Think it will be less than 27 days. I will let it run overnight and see what happens. I would be interested if you have any thoughts.
