I recently encountered an issue on my Ubuntu 24.04 system where the update-notifier application crashed with the following error:
Sorry, Ubuntu 24.04 has experienced an internal error.
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/update-notifier

ProblemType: Crash
Title: update-notifier crashed with SIGSEGV in g_hash_table_lookup()
Did you click to send the report?
I would try restarting the computer and then run this:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
Any further issues?

Thank you for getting back to me. I’ll look into whether the solution works.
It does look like you’re on the latest version of update-notifier. So there may not be an update right now that fixes this issue. As a result this may happen again, now and then. Do keep an eye on that bug report, as there may be updates later, if more people are affected.
Well thanks for reply, I think you are right they have to fix this if it still affects other people too.
