Ubuntu Unity “Hirsute Hippo” 21.04 is now available for the Raspberry Pi! It can be downloaded from the DarkPenguin server at http://ubuntuunity.org/download/. We thank fosshost for providing us with their servers to build the RPi variant of Ubuntu Unity.
Hello,
I am new to unity and i installed Ubuntu Unity 21.04 remix as my daily driver. I am a developer and need a stable distro. I saw some crashes while using Brave and VS Code. So i changed the theme to Ambiance, no crashes after a day.
As i am new to unity, i cannot fing a notification appindicator where i can see notifications which i missed. I’ve used cinnamon, gnome, mate, and xfce and all of them had notification area/appindicator. In this distro, it is nowhere to find. Can anyone suggest if it exists, or any external package?
PS: I installed indicator-notifications
and notification-daemon
. Now only the system notifications(network, sound) are logging in that indicator except the browser ones.
Thanks,
Pranav.
Ubuntu Unity 20.04.3 has been released (hurray! ). It includes all the changes from Ubuntu Unity 21.04. You can download it from https://ubuntuunity.org/download.
After installing this ISO, you’ll be able to easily update to newer versions of Ubuntu Unity (with the ‘Software Updater’ program) instead of having to reinstall the ISO with each update.
It has been rebuilt from scratch. A new ISO builder has been written and you can contribute to it at https://gitlab.com/ubuntu-unity/os. The scripts are pretty untidy though as it was supposed to be used only on my personal machine. Unlike live-builder
, it builds the new ISO on top of an existing Ubuntu or Debian ISO. The build process doesn’t take a lot of time and you shouldn’t be facing any issues with the GPG key files for a PPA unlike lb
when building your own flavor of Ubuntu or Debian. I plan to make it available for other distributions based on Ubuntu or Debian to use as well.
Amazing, I will enjoy downloading and installing it. :3
great work!
will it be possible someday to build the install-media with tools like the Ubuntu system tool?
Will the side panel be part of UnityX?
I’ve answered your question in the ‘Restarting Unity development’ thread.
Rudra,
Rather than keeping this year-old thread going, feel free to start a new thread for each point release of 20.04 in the future. This will prevent such “megathreads”, for lack of a better term.
Thanks!
Sorry. Must’ve forgotten I asked that question and/or was confused the threads I was looking at.
Sure @eeickmeyer, will do that going forward.
Could you consider re-arranging the window controls from Close, Minimize, Maximize to Close, Maximize, Minimize? I feel that this makes the most sense.
Responded to you on TG.
