Ubuntu not being groovy with Snaps

I am currently running Ubuntu 20.10 Beta on two computers. Noticed after switching over to Wayland couple of snap version of applications (zoom and drawing) I use don’t launch anymore. While launching drawing in terminal I got core dump message. They launch fine under x.org. Anyone else having this issue? Should I raise the issue on snapcraft.io?

@ogra may be able to help with the Zoom Client.
@kenvandine might be able to with drawing.

hmm, zoom-client has DISABLE_WAYLAND=1 set by default so it should simply use XWayland when started on wayland sessions (and i know it did that fine on former releases)

i wonder if bits are missing in groovy that have been there before ?

@mohan-ram mind opening an issue over at

https://github.com/ogra1/zoom-snap/issues

and attach the logs from:

~/snap/zoom-client/current/.zoom/logs/

Done.

Okay looks like Chromium and Firefox both won’t load under Wayland. So looks to me like snap version are having issues. But Ubuntu Software does (which I believe is Snap now).

Indeed, this appears to be a regression in groovy (tracked by bug #1897224 for chromium).

Another user and I have stumbled upon this bug too: https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/apps-wont-run-and-crash-on-gnome-wayland/20322/6

In there there is a bug report in bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1883621
