Ubuntu Flavor Sync Meeting Notes - January 30th

Representatives from the Ubuntu Flavors along with various Canonical and community leads met on January 30th to discuss the upcoming release of Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar Lobster among other desktop and flavor developments:

  • Ken VanDine (@kenvandine) and Oliver Smith (@local-optimum) provided an update on the upcoming flutter-based installer and software center along with an update on the future of Full Disk Encryption on Ubuntu.
  • Multiple flavor leads expressed interest in testing new flutter based tools with possible inclusion in future releases.
  • Robie Basak (@rbasak) from the Technical Board provided an update on some new upcoming guidelines on Third Party repositories.
  • Discussion over packaging support: Improving testing, bug reporting and flavor collaboration.

Ubuntu Flavor Sync Meetings take place every 2 months on the second Monday of that month. There are two sessions, 3PM UTC and 10PM UTC, to best accommodate our global community. All are welcome to join and participate in the discussion!
