Ubuntu 24.10, codenamed “Oracular Oriole,” is now available on the Azure Marketplace.

Notable features:

  • Linux kernel 6.11
  • Updated libraries: OpenSSL 3.3, Netplan 1.1, and systemd v256.5
  • Modern toolchains: Python 3.12.7, .NET 9, Rust 1.80, and OpenJDK 23 and 24

Ubuntu 24.10 is offered in two versions on Azure:

  1. Ubuntu Server 24.10: Designed for general server use, focusing on performance and security.
  2. Ubuntu Minimal 24.10: A lightweight option with a reduced package set, suitable for customized deployments.
