Ubuntu 24.10 fails on install due to wrong file size

Ubuntu Version:
24.10

Desktop Environment (if applicable):
GNOME

Problem Description:
Almost at the end of the installation we see a problem where there is mismatch of expected bytes received for a package.

Or is it a hash sum mismatch?

The file URL is:

http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu oracular-security/main Translation-en

Error message:

File has unexpected size (81072 != 81388)
Mirror sync in progress? [IP: 91.189.91.82 80]

Relevant System Information:
ThinkPad T14s

Screenshots or Error Messages:
I have made a video recording of the problem, it’s available on YouTube at

What I’ve Tried:
I tried to run the installation 3 times with the same result.

Sometimes that really means the mirror is syncing, and waiting a few days will resolve it. Other times that isn’t the case.

In 25.04 we introduced a workaround here - https://bugs.launchpad.net/subiquity/+bug/2105480 - so an install of 25.04 may work better for you.

Forcing an offline install may also help.

Thank you @dbungert !
I am going to try the offline install.
Unfortunately I need this specific version of Ubuntu at this time.
