I get no audio after doing a screencast recording from my laptop since I started using Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on my Lenovo Thinkpad P17 Gen 2 workstation. However, I experience no audio problems with firefox, VLC player or MPV media player when I play videos from another source. But the audio won’t play on my screencast recordings alone after using the above media players. Just video plays without audio from my screencast recordings. Please, I need assistance in correcting this failure.
What program are you using to take screencasts?
For diagnostic, try having Helvum running while taking a screencast. Does Helvum show that the screencast program is recording audio from the correct source?
Helvum is available in standard Ubuntu repositories for 24.04 and later:

Thanks for your help. I take the screencasts from the system menu which can take both screenshot and record screen. Installed the Helvum and tried the screencast while Helvum is running. It showed me my audio was from the correct source which is Tiger Lake H-HD audio controller spaeker + headphones but still screencast records produces no audio. Am stuck.
Does your GNOME sound settings (or pavucontrol if you’re not using GNOME desktop) show that the specific port of the audio input device is available, selected, and unmuted?
Does its level meter there move with input sound as you would expect?
Yes my GENOME sound settings shows this port of audio input already selected by default and unmuted. Sound input level meter moves as expected when tested. Am really surprised about this failure. Could it be screencast are only built for video screen recording without audios and do I have to record audio differently for them? Really don’t know why this happens.
It could. In VLC media player, while one of your screencast files is playing, if you go to Tools → “Codec Information”, it will show whether the issue is actually that the screencast video doesn’t contain an audio track (as opposed to audio being silence or not playing).
Tried it as advised and I found out that the codec information does not contain an audio track. It only contains video track. Perhaps screencast only has video track but no audio track with it in Ubuntu 24.04.
