Just updating everyone here with some tests I have been conducting for 2 months or more with Ubuntu 24.04
Many saw the posts about:
There are several enhancements at the video performance level (think gaming) coming to Ubuntu 24.10, from better snap, to better Nvidia drivers, Wayland and more, but before someone thinks the following when playing Linux:
I need to update you on 2 things that took me a while to work on which is this video:

From there, you can see that Ubuntu just outperformed Windows (either 10 or 11) with similar hardware for several games, when the current mentality it appears to be that there is no way for Linux to beat Windows at the gaming level. But out of 25 games, 16 of them (55%) had better performance on Ubuntu 24.04 than on Windows. Not only that, but even overclocked cases found during the research showed that still, Ubuntu beat them for the same games, with no overclocking of the video card, memory or cpu.
Lastly the gravitymark showed me something I was not expecting nor thinking it would be possible. The performance jump between Ubuntu 23.10 and 24.04 was above 10% fo gaming. Making Ubuntu 24.04 beat even cases like a Dual SLI of 2x 3090:
And making Ubuntu 24.04 the number one for Single GPU as of writing
Note: This is a Zotac, not an Asus, Gigabyte or MSI 4090, nor is it a 14900k, but a 13900k.
Meaning, with Ubuntu 24.10 we should be expecting a much better performance (if that is even possible). Better steam snap performance, which I have already tested and it went from horrible in January to same performance as the DEB Package of Steam.
Something to think about when thinking about which distro to use, if to stay on Windows (still???) or migrate to an OS that actually cares abotu your hardware and it is a hell of a lot fun to use.
From my part I am curious to know about AMD users (Both, for the CPU and Video Card performance versus their windows equivalent), since with the latest tests it is more than obvious that Intel and Nvidia are much better on Ubuntu than Windows.
