I tried to change to “Ubuntu Sans Medium” or “Ubuntu Sans Semi bold” using gnome tweaks but it is not working; Ubuntu gnome file file manager have fonts that are too thin.
Please help if it is possible somehow to change the fonts, thanks!
That has been an annoyance for many of us, for myself I removed fonts-ubuntu
And Installed fonts-ubuntu-classic On 24.04 I was able to keep both, but now on 25.10, it’s one or the other.
I’m on XFCE though so I’m not sure on your problem on Gnome-Tweaks.
You can view you scaling factor as well ie:
gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface text-scaling-factor
Right now I’m setting @
gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences titlebar-font
'Adwaita Sans Bold 11'

I’m using Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
My problem is that fonts in the GNOME Files (file manager) are too thin and difficult for me to read. In Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, the fonts were much more readable and comfortable for my eyes.
I’ve tried using GNOME Tweaks to change fonts to “Ubuntu Sans Bold,” but it didn’t have any effect — the font in GNOME Files remained unchanged and still too thin for me.
Now, I understand that I might be able to install the older fonts (like those from Ubuntu 22.04 LTS). What are those fonts called?
I came across a mention of “Adwaita” in your post — is that the font I need to select to get the old, more legible style?

A quick way would be to:
- Open Settings → Accessibility
- Enable Large Text
Alternatively, you may install GNOME Tweaks installed:
sudo apt install gnome-tweaks
then
- Open Gnome Tweaks
- Go to the Fonts section
- Adjust the font type, size, or hinting
you may test with these settings:

Thanks to all:
1 - installed fonts-ubuntu-classic
2 - in “tweaks” selected “ubuntu regular” for interface text and “ubuntu Mono regular” for Monospace text.
