Ubuntu 18.04 LTS to get 10 years of support?

Multiple sources quoting the following phrase Mark Shuttleworth said in OpenStack Summit 2018

I’m also delighted to announce that Ubuntu 18.04 will be supported for a full 10 years

building stories and stories upon this phrase.

The original phrase can also be found in Ubuntu Blog in Header: OpenStack progression, 3rd paragraph.

Do we have any updates upon this matter, something more explanatory and more …Official ?

Clearly related to OpenStack, server and IoT but not desktop.

To get some official reaction we have two things:

  1. question on AskUbuntu “What are the specifics of 18.04’s ten year support?” asked by muru
  2. my bug 1803786 report against ubuntu-support-status (" ubuntu-support-status should report 10 years of support for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS")

It is still unclear about the desktop. Waiting for reaction from Canonical staff.

Maybe, by that time devs would find a way, how to stop D2D and Ubuntu Dock appearing at the same time…
