I have noticed recently that some, but not all, threads have the following message at the bottom:
This topic will automatically close in a month
Is this user initiated, automatic from the system, something new?

This is what I see when clicking on the link:
In any event, thanks for the response.
For me, the matter is resolved.
I assume only the original poster or a mod can re-open a thread that was automatically closed?
Yeah sorry…
The link that @bashing-om shared is in the Staff area, so you & most people won’t be able to view it.
It related to a change made 2025-02-06 due to a discussion at the meeting of the same day of ‘admins’… very roughly.
It didn’t occur to me to read the whole page when I opened the link Billy posted, after all I can view it.
I didn’t reply to that part sorry…
For a thread to be re-opened will require a mod as I understand the rules; ie. closure impacts OP too (this is based on Lubuntu’s discourse though; so configs here may differ, but I’d expect the same here)

Q: Can regular users reply to closed or archived topics?
A: No, regular users cannot reply to closed or archived topics. However, admins, moderators, and TL4 users can still interact with these topics.
Excellent information, thank you!
