Third party firmware support for TPM-backed full disk encryption

Hi, I’m wondering if the team could shed some insight into when we could expect support for adding NVIDIA drivers to Ubuntu desktop installs with TPM-backed full disk encryption?

This thread was locked and somebody mentioned this is waiting on another project to offer NVIDIA drivers with the kernel snap, but I couldn’t find any concrete timelines. It was announced as a hope for 25.04, but it looks like it didn’t quite make the cut.

I’m also curious about whether this limitation still applies from Ubuntu 24.04’s release notes:

  • Firmware updates and upgrades to future releases of Ubuntu are not currently supported.

Appreciate any insight! I’m currently rolling out Ubuntu as a new option for my company’s dev team and support for both full disk encryption and NVIDIA hardware were “must haves” in our requirements analysis.
