Ubuntu Background
Keen, self-taught Ubuntu home user
First installation was Feisty Fawn (7.04) in 2007 but only to play around, nothing serious.
If I remember correctly, in those far-off days, you couldn’t yet play an mp3 file.
In 2008, I installed Hardy Heron LTS (8.04) and began to move all my data to Ubuntu.
Every two years, I download and install the latest LTS iso, add my favourite apps and restore my data.
Ubuntu 24.04 is my daily OS installed on a 2023 GMKtec K2 mini PC
Xubuntu 24.04 minimal on a 2021 Lenovo netbook
Lubuntu 24.04 minimal on a 2015 HP Stream netbook
Investigation of non LTS releases & flavours using a 2019 Intel NUC8i3 mini PC
Contributions
- Ubuntu Forums member (joined in 2008), however, I began to post more regularly after retirement in 2017.
- Mainly interested in issues of installation, (dual) boot, boot-repair, UEFI firmware options inter alia.
- Encouraged by @Wild_Man, I registered for Ubuntu Discourse in November 2024.
- A few bugs reported via Launchpad
- A visit to Canonical (approx 2015) to take part in a user survey about the ubuntu.com website.
Future
- Simply, to continue offering suggestions in Support and Help
- I tend to read many posts which are technically out of my comfort zone. Hopefully, I can assimilate a bit more knowledge and try to help on a wider scale.
Final Thought
Luckily for me, @discobot has deprecated Groucho Marx’s well-known terminal request:-
Please accept my resignation. I don’t want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member
