System won't boot if a display is connected to one of my two graphics cards

Ubuntu Support Template

Ubuntu Version:
25.10

Desktop Environment (if applicable):
GNOME

Problem Description:
I have a PC with four monitors, three of them connected to a graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 (displayport), the fourth to Intel Corporation AlderLake-S GT1 (also displayport). I can only boot the system if the display connected to Intel is switched off, otherwise it won’t even load Grub.

If the display connected to Intel is switched off, then the system boots normally with the other displays connected NVidia. After booting, I can switch on the display connected to Intel and it will be recognized without problems. At this point, I can work with the four displays without problems.

What is annoying is that by the end of the day (or I need to reboot) I always need to remember to switch off the display connected to Intel, otherwise it’s going to be a false start.

I can reproduce this problem in Ubuntu 25.10 but it has been happening in previous versions as well.

Screenshots or Error Messages:
(Happy to share any logs, but I don’t know where to look.)

What I’ve Tried:
I have tried different combinations of displays, cables, plugs, and graphics cards. These combinations reliably point to booting with any display connected to the Intel card and switched on at boot.
