It would be great to have included in the system a service like apple airdrop and that besides connecting between Ubuntu systems, it could also be open to connect from mobile devices if an application is developed for it or expose an API.
I have seen several existing tools like avahi but they are only terminal tools, could be developed an implementation of that service for end users included in Ubuntu?
