Ubuntu Version: 25.04
Desktop Environment (if applicable): Gnome 48
Problem Description: I have several external hard disks connected via USB. Most are USB 3 (connected via USB 3 ports) and one is USB 2 (connected via a USB 2 port). My normal startup configuration is to have those drives plugged in and turned on prior to starting my computer. When I get to the desktop, generic drive icons for each of the attached storage devices are present, but when clicked, nothing happens. If I manually put the computer into suspend mode and bring it back, they function normally (that is, the icon changes to a custom icon I have set for each of them and Nautilus opens a file manager window for each one I’ve clicked on). Alternatively, if I start up without the drives connected, then when I plug them in, I get generic drive icons and when clicked, they function normally.
For comparison, I have never had an equivalent to this issue in Linux Mint or Fedora 40/41/42 Gnome or KDE.
Relevant System Information: HP Envy TE01-0014, totally stock except changed out the NVME to a 1TB WD Black unit.
