Startup Disk

I am running with ubuntu 24.04.2

I have a machine. It boots up with a created Startup Disk of 1tb. Its been running for some time. I checked it and found that the Disk is in 3 partitions. The first two are being used for booting (I think). The last partition, the largest, has 967gb free, the first partition has 537mb free. I was just wondering. As I continue with this machine I am sure that I will be gaining more and more stuff. This being the case will this stuff be moved into the first or the last partition? Oh, the middle partition is for booting and is Contents Unknown.

I would like to know this so I don’t get too much stuff.

Thank you…

Please run the following two commands.

  • Copy and paste the entire output of both into your post.
  • Use the Preformatted Text option when pasting.

The two commands are:

sudo parted -l
df -h

thank you for the reply!

I did as you said and that was good to know. I have forgotten much as I am getting a bit old.

Anyway, I also found out that my system is using the 967gb for putting stuff. Given that its 9677 I expect that will take a long time to store before I have a problem. I also have a 4tb hard drive where I can save big stuff.

Thanks again!
