Source package tar.gz of plib-doc missing in repository

Hi,

since this issue with missing source packages on the Ubuntu mirrors:

there is still a file missing on the mirrors:

ubuntu/pool/universe/p/plib-doc/plib-doc_1.8.5.orig.tar.gz

which was there before (until May 12 2025) and is still listed in

ubuntu/dists/bionic/universe/source/Sources.gz
ubuntu/dists/focal/universe/source/Sources.gz
ubuntu/dists/bionic/universe/source/Sources.xz
ubuntu/dists/focal/universe/source/Sources.xz

Should the reference to the file be removed from these Sources.gz/xz?
Or is the file really missing?

Regards,
Jean Rene

Hello appendtext,

I does appear that there is a mixed sources list from focal and bionic based on your post. Was this system upgraded at some point or is there another reason for this?

Hi Frogs_Hair,

no. I’m mirroring packages from the Ubuntu mirror for specific releases by going through the Packages/Sources files and fetching the files listed there.
And by doing so it appeared that plib-doc_1.8.5.orig.tar.gz is listed in some Sources.gz files but doesn’t exist on the mirror.

So I would guess that the reference to the file should either be removed from the Sources.gz files or it should be present on the mirror.

Jean Rene

I would agree with your assessment and remove the source.

This what you’re looking for?
https://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/plib-doc/plib-doc_1.8.5.orig.tar.xz

What mirror are you trying to get this source tarball from?

No, that’s the .tar.xz
The file which is referenced but missing is the gzip archive plib-doc_1.8.5.orig.tar.gz
I’m looking on the archive.ubuntu.com mirror.

Jean Rene

ohh… I see. Yeah, you’re right. The dists Sources file does list some source archives with .gz. I had thought that the conversion from gz to xz had been completed for Debian and Ubuntu, but apparently there’s a few(?) stragglers.

Hi,

the problem still exists. How can we proceed to have this sorted out?

Jean Rene

Based on this , I’m not sure I fully understand the problem and you would have to defer to another user for guidance. More information is needed about what specific releases. I did download the package linked by [steventhompson-2204] , extract and compress it as tar.gz ,but this does nothing to amend the source.
