I was toying around a bit with WireGuard today and noticed that it’s in universe rather than main. Isn’t that a bit strange for such an important technology?

I just came across this post.
The server team agrees, and we’ve been working on getting WireGuard into main for quite some time. It’s not just a case of flicking a switch. We have quality requirements that need to be met, which in this case also included a security review.
The good news is that this is all done and WireGuard will be in main in the next release—expected next week as 22.04 LTS.
