Samsung clx-3185fn access over tcpip

I have a Samsung clx-3185fn which is a good device, if a little noisy. I recently bought a new motherboard and m2 hardrives and because my old dist (Suse) wouldn’t install on it I tried Ubuntu. That was no treat, and the grub loader still does not allow me to have my boot partition on m2 but its working. But I digress.
The problem is that I’ve never been able to get this printer/scanner/fax to work with Ubuntu. I know all the xerox_mfp hacks, thats how I configured Suse and Centos to use it. However it turns out that you can use it over tcp-ip just as easily as USB by placing:
#Samsung CLX-3180 Series: Samsung CLX 3185
usb 0x04e8 0x343d
tcp 192.168.10.130

in the xerox_mfp.conf file (/etc/sane.d/xerox_mfp.conf).
I doubt that the usb entry is needed for tcp usage.
So this is not a question, but a postit on the web for folks with one of these or a closely related device.
