Popping noise when any sound starts

I have my system running Ubuntu MATE 24.04 LTS. After running an in place upgrade from 22.04, every time the pc makes a sound, there is a pop immediately proceeding the sound. It seems to do most often if its been not using sound for a short time, say like starts popping after about 5 min. I have the sound set to Line out and it otherwise works perfectly.

If you require my specs or some kind of output, I will try to post them here. Thanks for helping!

Are you using PipeWire, or are you using PulseAudio?

Do the instructions here help?
(To be clear, the solution in that article is not specific to System76 hardware.)

It could be also some miner virus on some web page, today could web have access to hardware, it was common issue some times ago, but maybe not in your case…

you could also try apt install powertop or find some help also on https://ubuntu-mate.community/

That type of cause of audio popping usually results in a lot more than just one single pop right before any sound starts playing.
