I want to wait until the drivers actually show up in 20.04 but I am curious on how long I will be waiting
Still waiting… Does anyone found any updates anywhere?
This is now fixed for me with the 470.57.02 and the 460.91.03 drivers from the normal repositories in 21.04
At least 2 people continue to have this problem using the latest kernel (63) and Nvidia drivers 470.57 and 460.91 on Ubuntu 20.04.

After a lot of other weird problems, I may have solved my problem by adding nomodeset to /etc/default/grub
here GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset"
If you have trouble getting to this screen, you can press e
as soon as you see GRUB and then temporarily add nomodeset there. Then press ctrl+x to boot.
Tried the new driver, but it breaks my system even further, with the new driver, the video card doesn’t recognize my monitor so I can only get 1024x768 resolution on my 2560x1440p monitor on HDMI and DisplayPort still doesn’t work… I am giving up on Ubuntu after… Twelve years. It was a good run people.
Those that still have problems please look at this comment from a Nvidia employee asking for logs and specs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-465/+bug/1930733/comments/34
