Once I had installed Noble on my laptop, I inserted my thumbdrive to copy some files over but it failed with an error I’d never seen before. I searched on the error and found the solution on a Linux Mint forum: the ntfs3 driver in the 6.8 kernel is buggy and needs to be blacklisted. Once that was done, the thumbdrive was recognized and I was able to copy over my files. I really think that should’ve been part of the default installation until the kernel developers get that straightened out. Reference: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=434461
