The desktop looks tiny on 4K displays. There is no option for scaling. If not font scaling may be added besides enabling large text from Universal access. Gnome Tweak Tool indirectly enables Universal access when text scaling factor in adjusted.

For fractional scaling, you can follow this answer (solution two) and then visit the same place after restarting the shell. That only currently works in Wayland though.
Wayland I know. I had other issues with wayland.
On Xorg 200% makes it bigger. My desktop supports about 150%.
There is currently no integrated support for fractional scaling in Xorg.
